I joined KPCC 89.3 FM as a political reporter in April 2012. Prior to joining the station, I ran The City Maven, a news publication about Los Angeles city politics and policy.
I graduated from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism in the Media Strategy and Leadership program in 2010. During my time there, I was named a McCormick Scholar by the fine folks at the McCormick Foundation. I have a bachelor’s degree in political science and print journalism from the University of Southern California. My real education came from the four years I spent as a reporter for City News Service, the largest regional wire service in the country.
Journalism is a professional and personal passion of mine. As I see it, the major issues facing reporters and editors today are technology, content, monetization and trust. It is no secret that journalism’s business model is going through a seismic shift. It is a challenge but it is also an opportunity to get creative.
When I pull myself away from my iPhone and laptop, I enjoy hiking through Griffith Park, running along Lake Michigan and traveling to any place that will add a new stamp to my passport.
